Kasdan: A Tradition in Film
Inform | 344 days ago
Lawrence Kasdan, the legendary filmmaker and screenwriter, has a long and storied history within Hollywood as the producer, writer, or director of such classic films as Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Bodyguard, The Big Chill, Silverado, and Wyatt Earp, among others. Meanwhile, however, he has also found the time to raise fellow writers and directors Jake and Jon Kasdan, his two sons.
Truly a filmmaking family in the tradition of the Barrymores, the Kasdans have all directed or written, and in Jon’s case, acted in numerous productions, from Judd Apatow’s acclaimed and short-lived teen comedy Freaks and Geeks to Jake Kasdan’s uplifting comedy Orange County.
The two brothers have worked extensively with Apatow, Jake also directing the Apatow-produced comedy Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story. The family is a showcase of fine cinematic talent, and there is no doubt that both brothers, and Jake in particular, who has already established himself as a notable young contemporary director, will one day equal their father’s prolific stature and oeuvre.
